
Ferry Janoska was born into a family of musicians on 22 January 1959. Music has been a defining part of his life since childhood. He has been married since 1980, is the father of two children, and lives in Neusiedl am See in Burgenland.
He began piano lessons at the age of six and went on to study concert piano at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. He also completed a degree in composition at the Konservatorium Wien. Since 1990, he has been active as a composer and arranger.
Janoska has composed and arranged works for numerous ensembles and artists. Highlights include collaborations with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, The Philharmonics, Janoska Ensemble, Wiener Sängerknaben, Michael Schade, Elisabeth Kulman, Angelika Kirchschlager, Thomas Hampson, Ildiko Raimondi, Adrian Eröd, Georg Breinschmied, Erwin Schrott, Klavierduo Kutrowatz, Rainhard Fendrich, and Christiane Hörbiger.
His works have been performed at prestigious events and venues such as the Salzburg Festival, Carinthian Summer, Rettet den Stephansdom, the Kissinger Sommer, St. Margarethen, Hollywood in Vienna, and Christmas in Vienna.
A few years ago, he discovered a passion for the bandoneon and has since returned to the stage as a soloist with this instrument. Together with a string quintet of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, he performs works by Astor Piazzolla, classical repertoire, and his own compositions.
Ferry Janoska has been honoured with the Grand Decoration of Honour and the Culture Prize of the Province of Burgenland.
