Christoph Huber studied conducting (MUK) and composition (MDW) in Vienna.
While still a student, he took on conducting engagements, including at the Vienna Volksoper.
From 2019/20, he spent three seasons as second conductor and choir director at the Bühne Baden theatre. At the same time, he was musical director of the youth opera at the Theater an der Wien.
Guest conducting engagements took him to the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, the Vienna Chamber Opera and to the podium of major orchestras such as the Essen Philharmonic, the Dortmund Philharmonic, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Albanian Radio & Television Orchestra and the Synchron Stage Orchestra.
In 2024, he conducted several world premieres, for example at the Burgtheater Vienna and the Landestheater Tirol, and was nominated in the same year for the Austrian Music Theatre Award in the category ‘Best Musical Direction – Young Talent’.
As a composer and arranger, Christoph Huber works regularly for theatres such as the Dortmund Opera, the Halle Theatre, the Hamburg State Opera, the Altenburg-Gera Theatre and the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl. Orchestral arrangements of ‘The Csárdás Princess’ have been created for productions in Sweden, Germany and Austria, among others.
Since October 2024, he has been a lecturer at the MDW Vienna (composition & arrangement, ensemble conducting, aural training).
In the same year, he also founded the nexus now ensemble, a collective that combines a wide range of musical styles and eras through flexible instrumentation.
His wide-ranging repertoire includes opera, operetta, musical theatre, contemporary music theatre and symphonic literature up to the 21st century.
