
Born in 1966 in south-eastern Styria, Clarisse Praun-Maylunas began working in 1989 as a costume and stage design assistant to Elisabeth Neururer, Werner Schönolt, and others, contributing to productions at institutions such as Wiener Festwochen, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Theater an der Wien, and Literatur im März, among others.
Since 1994, she has created her own costume and stage designs for numerous venues, including the Burgtheater/Casino, Theater in der Josefstadt, Landestheater Linz and Innsbruck, Steirischer Herbst, Sommerspiele Reichenau, Staatstheater Mainz, Städtische Bühnen Kiel, Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, S.N.G. Drama Ljubljana, ZeKaEm Zagreb, PDG Nova Gorica, Luzerner Theater, Theater Oberhausen, Volksoper Wien, and Theater Freiburg.
She has collaborated with directors and artists such as Beverly Blankenship, Peter Carp, Ueli Jaeggi, Janusz Kica, Bojana Lazić, Robert Mayer, and Ludwig Wüst.
From 2011 to 2018, she co-led the interdisciplinary project Dresscode Interruption with Monika Biegler and Andrea Hölzl.
Since 2016, she has been collaborating with Devi Saha on the artistic project Die Viecherei.
