Anett Fritsch


Soprano

Anett Fritsch is considered one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation and is a regular guest at renowned opera houses such as Teatro Real in Madrid, the Bavarian State Opera, the Bastille in Paris, La Scala in Milan, Zurich Opera House, Dutch National Opera, Theater an der Wien, and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, as well as at numerous festivals including the Glyndebourne Festival, the Salzburg Festival, and many others. Her repertoire spans from Baroque to Mozart, operetta, and extends to lyrical roles in Wagner and Strauss.

 

In the 2024/25 season, she made a highly acclaimed debut as Idamante (Idomeneo) at the Stuttgart State Opera. She will go on to perform the role of Gutrune (Götterdämmerung) at La Monnaie in Brussels, where she had previously appeared as Freia (Das Rheingold). She also returned to the Volksoper Vienna as Hannah Glawari (The Merry Widow) and Frau Fluth (The Merry Wives of Windsor). Together with Giovanni Antonini and the ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, she performed in Handel’s Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at the Wratislavia Cantans Festival. As the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), she toured with the Basel Chamber Orchestra under Maestro Antonini, with concerts in Basel (Stadtcasino), Luxembourg (Philharmonie), Paris (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées), and Hamburg (Elbphilharmonie). During the 2025 Johann Strauss anniversary year, she will appear as Franziska Cagliari in Wiener Blut.

 

Highlights of the upcoming season include a new production of Paul Hindemith’s Cardillac at the Zurich Opera House and a new production of Le nozze di Figaro, in which she will once again sing the role of the Countess, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

 

Anett Fritsch studied at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig and has received numerous awards, including First Prize at the Bach Competition in Leipzig. From 2009 to 2015, she was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
