Chris Haring is choreographer and artistic director of the performance company Liquid Loft. His main sources of inspiration are science fiction and the view of the body as a cybernetic landscape.
Fremdkörper, one of his first creations, was nominated for Best Performance at the Biennale de Lyon in 2004.
With performances such as Kind of Heroes (2005, Burgtheater Vienna, ImPulsTanz), Running Sushi (2006, MUMOK Vienna, ImPulsTanz), Deep Dish (2013, Tanzquartier Vienna) or Stand-Alones (2019, Leopold Museum Vienna, ImPulsTanz), he shaped the distinctive style of Liquid Loft. Posing Project B – The Art of Seduction was awarded the Golden Lion for Best Performance at the Venice Biennale in 2007.
With Liquid Loft Chris Haring was responsible for the Austrian Pavilion at the EXPO Zaragoza 2008. In 2010 he received the “outstanding artist award – Performing Arts” of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture. He has developed choreographies for international groups such as Jin Xing Dance Theatre (Shanghai), Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Staatstheater Kassel, Contemporary Ballet Moscow, Balletto di Roma, Balé da Cidade de São Paulo and most recently for Ensemble Tanz Linz. Together with filmmaker Mara Mattuschka, he has created award-winning short films and a feature film based on his choreographies.
