Christian Kotsis

Austrian baritone Christian Peter Kotsis, born in Vienna in 1984, is one of the most versatile voices of his generation.
After completing his master's degree in opera singing with distinction at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Prof. Adler, Prof. Meier, and Prof. Nickler, he took master classes with Prof. Gerhard Kahry and Maestro Alessandro Corbelli, among others.

His talent for the stage became apparent early on: in 1994, he made his debut at the Theater an der Wien as “little Rudolph” in the musical Elisabeth – even before he became an alto soloist with the Vienna Boys' Choir. During this time, he sang the Second Boy in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Vienna State Opera and toured with Bastien & Bastienne in the role of Colas.

His baritone voice opened up a wide repertoire for him: he played roles such as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Don Alvaro in Il viaggio a Reims, Kilian in Der Freischütz, and Count Boni in Die Csárdásfürstin.

He is also in demand as a concert and oratorio singer: in February 2022, for example, he performed with the Balthasar Neumann Choir under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock, and in May 2022 with the choir of the J. S. Bach Foundation St. Gallen under Rudolf Lutz.

His stage presence, vocal versatility, and dedicated work in song and oratorio make Christian Peter Kotsis an artist who impresses in classical opera and operetta as well as in song and concert performance. His development from boy choir singer to alto soloist to fully trained baritone reflects his continuous artistic maturation and his passion for singing.
