Born and raised in Vienna, Daniel discovered his passion for all things technical early on. Music became a central part of his life when he began playing the bass guitar and — in a bold attempt to survive puberty — started singing in the melodic death metal band Zorn. Always fascinated by the recording process, he naturally took on the role of “tech guy” in the band, honing his skills and training his ears.
After a few years’ break, primarily due to his professional training as a male nurse, Daniel returned to the (now digital) world of recording. Equipped with a growing collection of gear, he built a small recording booth in his flat together with friends and soon launched the hip-hop project Kanasta, a trio with big ambitions in the Austrian music scene.
Writing, composing, and recording quickly led to a network of young musicians — and ultimately the founding of 4earstudios, a name that has since endured.
Driven by a clear goal — to become a professional recording engineer and studio owner — Daniel enrolled in a sound engineering school and began training his ears daily. Eventually, he found the perfect space, transforming what was once a server room into a fully equipped studio for audiophile productions. With continued investment in gear, a growing network of musicians and voice-over artists, and a solid reputation, 4earstudios secured a firm place in the Austrian audio market — and finally began generating real income.
Not limited to the studio, Daniel also tours as a FOH (Front of House) engineer for various bands. Outside of music, he frequently works in conference and congress technology.
Daniel joined the production teams of Monochrom and Traum und Wahnsinn for the feature film Die G’stettensaga – Rise of the Echsenfriedl, where on-set recording and post-production opened a new professional chapter for 4earstudios. Alongside his producer friend Christian Staudacher, he founded the 4ES production team, which debuted with Monochrom’s feature film Traceroute.
Motivated by a desire to acquire gear that was often beyond budget, Daniel taught himself the basics of electronics, soldering, and reading schematics. With these skills, he built a variety of studio tools — preamps, compressors, EQs, microphones — most of them faithful recreations of legendary original units.
Daniel is married and the proud father of two lovely children.
