
Since her stage debut 25 years ago, soprano Diana Damrau has been a regular guest at the world’s leading opera houses, concert halls, and music festivals.
Her extensive repertoire includes title roles in Anna Bolena (Zurich Opera House, Vienna State Opera), I Masnadieri, and Capriccio (Bavarian State Opera), as well as leading roles in Roméo et Juliette (Metropolitan Opera, La Scala), Lucia di Lammermoor (La Scala, Bavarian State Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House), Manon (Vienna State Opera, Metropolitan Opera), and La traviata (La Scala, Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Opéra National de Paris, Bavarian State Opera). She has also portrayed the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte at the Metropolitan Opera, Salzburg Festival, Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House, and Bavarian State Opera.
In January 2025, she made her acclaimed debut as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier at Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.
Since her house debut as Zerbinetta in 2005, Diana Damrau has given seven major role debuts at the Metropolitan Opera and has been featured in numerous worldwide HD cinema broadcasts. Highlights include new productions of Rigoletto (Gilda), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina), Le comte Ory (Adèle), and Les pêcheurs de perles (Leïla), along with title roles in La sonnambula, La fille du régiment, and Roméo et Juliette. She was the first singer in the Metropolitan Opera’s history to perform both Pamina and the Queen of the Night in different performances of the same production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.
She is also frequently engaged in contemporary opera. Roles have been written specifically for her, including the title role in Iain Bell’s A Harlot’s Progress (Theater an der Wien, 2013) and a leading role in Lorin Maazel’s 1984 (Royal Opera House, 2005).
Diana Damrau is regarded as one of today’s foremost lieder interpreters. She maintains close artistic collaborations with pianist Helmut Deutsch, harpist Xavier de Maistre, and conductor Sir Antonio Pappano.
As an exclusive artist with Warner Classics/Erato, her debut album Arie di Bravura, featuring Mozart and Salieri arias, was followed by several solo albums that received multiple awards, including the ECHO and OPUS Klassik. Together with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Mariss Jansons, she performed Strauss’ Four Last Songs at Carnegie Hall, later released as an album. Her extensive discography includes numerous complete opera recordings and DVDs. In December 2023, her new album featuring operetta arias and duets with Jonas Kaufmann was released.

Following a successful European tour with tenor Jonas Kaufmann and pianist Helmut Deutsch featuring love songs by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, the trio will present songs by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss in major concert halls across Europe in spring and summer 2025.
Highlights of the 2024–2025 concert season include an open-air performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, as well as New Year’s concerts with Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle Berlin.
