Artist Website

Dieter Kolbeck was born on April 29, 1965, in Bregenz. He began playing the piano at the age of 10. His early experience with his first band Wellasgot, which focused on jazz fusion, and a performance at the age of 15 with jazz legend Fatty George, inspired him to move to Vienna in 1984. There, he studied jazz piano for four years at the Conservatory with Rudi Wilfer.

Joining Peter Legat’s band Count Basic as a keyboardist marked the start of Dieter Kolbeck’s rise on the international music scene. He toured extensively with Count Basic across Europe and Russia, then went on to perform with major acts such as The Temptations on their European tours, and spent five years playing with Gloria Gaynor, performing as far as Dubai.

Dieter Kolbeck is also well known for his outstanding piano accompaniment during solo evenings with various artists. For nine years (1998–2007), he accompanied Georg Danzer across Europe. From 2006 to 2015, he was also part of Rainhard Fendrich’s band, including a duo program. In addition, he has performed with artists such as Harald Krassnitzer, Wolfgang Böck, and Adi Hirschal at their readings and gala events.

Dieter Kolbeck is also active as a studio musician, arranger, composer, and music producer. Highlights of his career include working with Martin Grubinger, contributing piano passages to the Kruder & Dorfmeister remix of Madonna’s “Nothing Really Matters”, as well as producing music for various documentaries (e.g., Universum) and commercials (e.g., Austrian Tourist Board, Erste Bank, etc.).
