
Flo Staffelmayr is an author, director, and theatre educator. Born in France, he now lives in Austria. After studying economics and working for several years as an actor, he has been creating theatre for and with young people since 2009 — a field in which he has received multiple awards.
His plays have been staged at venues including Landestheater Salzburg, Landestheater Vorarlberg, Landestheater Tirol, Westfälisches Landestheater, Next Liberty Graz, Junges Theater Heidelberg, Dschungel Wien, Theater Phönix Linz, Werftparktheater Kiel, Volkstheater Rostock, Schauspielhaus Wien, and many others. His imaginative, boundary-crossing approach and strong socio-political commitment have made him a key figure in theatre for young audiences in the German-speaking world.
Since 2020, he has also worked as a children’s book author and is a member of the Advisory Board for Performing Arts at the Austrian Ministry of Arts and Culture.
In 2020, he received the State Prize for the Most Beautiful Books in Austria for his children’s book Lina die Entdeckerin. He was awarded the STELLA Performing Arts Prize for Young Audiences in both 2013 and 2017. In 2012, he won the Ö1 radio play competition Track 5’ for Der China Wägen.
