Joachim Flüeler


Joachim Flüeler is a Swiss composer, cellist, and producer, born in 1990 in Heidelberg. He began cello lessons at the age of seven at the Freiburg Conservatory with Simon Zeller. He went on to study cello at the Zurich University of the Arts, where his teachers included Orfeo Mandozzi and Martina Schucan. After completing his cello studies, he earned a second master’s degree in composition for film, theatre, and media.

Working across a wide range of genres, Flüeler is active as both composer and performer. He is a member of the Yumi Ito Orchestra and the experimental singer-songwriter project Silent Neighbor. His compositional work spans film and theatre scores—including for Theater Bremen—as well as contemporary classical music and free improvisation.

As a cellist, he has contributed to numerous film and album productions, including Der Junge muss an die frische Luft and Die Känguru-Chroniken (music by Niki Reiser), Faber’s album I fucking love my life, and the video game Far: Lone Sails (music by Joel Schoch).

Under the artist name Aktomis, he released his debut album Perfect Town in 2019.
