
Jorine van Beek is from the Netherlands and studied costume design at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Wimbledon School of Arts in London. While still a student, she designed costumes for productions at the Städtische Bühnen in Osnabrück. She works as a freelance costume designer for opera and ballet, creating costumes for, among others, the Dutch opera ensemble Opera Zuid, Oper Leipzig, Staatsoper Stuttgart, and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
Some of her most notable works include Aida at the Opéra national de Paris, Alcina at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Les pêcheurs de perles at Theater an der Wien, Il trittico at the Bayerische Staatsoper, and Le nozze di Figaro at the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence.
In 2006, she received the Edmond Hustinx Prize for Fine Arts.
She has a long-standing collaboration with director Lotte de Beer, most recently on Carmen, La rondine, and West Side Story at Volksoper Wien.
