
Austrian conductor Katharina Wincor has already made a name for herself on international stages in a short time.
In the 2024/25 season, she will once again work with the Bruckner Orchester Linz, Klangforum Wien, Romanian Radio National Orchestra, Ensemble Reflektor, and the Upper Austrian Youth Symphony Orchestra. Further debuts will follow with the SWR Symphonieorchester, Bamberger Symphoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Carinthian Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Jeunesse Orchester, Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Kaiserslautern, São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica RTVE Madrid, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Yomiuri Nippon Orchestra in Tokyo, and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Highlights of recent seasons included guest conducting with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Staatsorchester Darmstadt, NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, Tucson Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, Grazer Philharmoniker, Seattle Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, North Carolina Symphony, and Utah Symphony. She has also worked several times with the Museumsorchester Frankfurt, Dresdner Philharmonie, Cincinnati Symphony, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Reflektor, and the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM. To mark the Arnold Schoenberg anniversary year in 2024, Wincor conducted the festive concert of the Arnold Schoenberg Center together with members of the Vienna Philharmonic.
Wincor developed a natural approach to working with singers early on through her experiences with the Arnold Schoenberg Chor in Vienna. After conducting Candide by Bernstein at the May Festival of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 2022, she led a production at the Salzburger Landestheater and a children’s opera at the Salzburg Festival.
Katharina Wincor gained international attention when she was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Fabio Luisi. In 2020, she was a prizewinner at the Mahler Competition in Bamberg and was invited to the Ammodo Masterclass of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Iván Fischer, who subsequently engaged her as an assistant for several projects with the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
Raised in Upper Austria, Wincor studied conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Zurich University of the Arts. She has participated in masterclasses with Riccardo Muti, Jaap van Zweden, Robert Spano, and David Zinman.
