Born in Fukuoka, Japan, Manaho Shimokawa describes herself as a "chameleon dancer" who creates her own style by blending different genres. In her various projects, she collaborates with choreographer Michael Turinsky, the band INCUBUS, the Sofa Surfers, and many other artists.

In 2016, she was also a solo dancer at the Trans-Siberian Arts Festival (Russia) curated by Vadim Repin, and at the Miyazaki International Music Festival (Japan) by Tsugio Tokunaga. Since then, she has been a regular guest at renowned international festivals.

Together with violinist Yury Revich, she developed a choreography inspired by Der Kuss by Gustav Klimt – this performance is considered the first of its kind in the history of the Belvedere Museum’s premises. Other performances of the project took place at the Semperdepot, the Musikverein Wien, and the Theater Megaron, Athens.

In 2017, Shimokawa performed in Ganymed Female at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, directed by Jacqueline Kornmüller, alongside Esther Balfe. In 2018, she performed solo in Ganymed Nature, and in 2019, she appeared in Ganymed in Love, performing with trumpeter Martin Eberle. In 2021, she performed something very new with Matthias Loibner, a piece about her personal experience of becoming pregnant, up to the day of her child’s birth.

In 2022, together with Kornmüller, Shimokawa performed DIE UNHEIMLICHE BIBLIOTHEK by Haruki Murakami at the Odeon Theater in Vienna.
