On the origins of a fairy-tale operetta
Did you know that the Waltz King, Johann Strauss, was working on a fairy-tale ballet at the end of his life? And how did the idea arise to create an entirely new piece from the fragments of his unfinished work—one that defies genre boundaries and tells a timeless story across different eras? The story of Aschenbrödel… or is it Cinderella? And who is the girl in our story? Last but not least: what does it all sound like?
Composer Martina Eisenreich, librettist and director Axel Ranisch, and dramaturge Peter te Nuyl will answer these questions and offer a glimpse behind the scenes in a soirée moderated by Thomas Höft (dramaturgy). Members of the ensemble will also present musical highlights!
